What is a medical opinion?
You are suffering or experiencing health problems and you visit a doctor to ask for their opinion and help you get better. You have therefore requested a medical opinion.
To answer your question: What do I have, Doctor? Is it serious?
Your doctor will examine you and order tests: laboratory tests, radiology (ultrasound, CT scan, MRI, or other advanced examinations).
Your doctor has evaluated your health based on the requested tests and reports, and has announced a diagnosis.
They then propose a treatment.
Why seek a 2nd opinion?
It may happen that the diagnosis does not convince you and you cannot make a decision.
You are confused, afraid, and do not fully understand what your doctor explained. Ask for a second opinion.
The second opinion follows 3 steps:
1 — Multidisciplinary opinion: your file is studied by a team of specialist doctors.
2 — Propose the best possible treatment to address your concerns.
3 — Help and support you throughout your care pathway.
MIM organises an expert council for you that gives its opinion on your pathology.
